Description
Claude Monet’s series of water lily paintings were done in his very own backyard. With access to such a gorgeous subject, how could he not create multiple takes on the same lovely flowers? The close-up view in Water Lilies from 1914 is one of the most unique paintings in this series. It focuses in on a small section of the water lilies, cutting out the iconic bridge and surrounding marsh. The result is truly stunning since the swirling colors create an incredible view of the reflections in the water. The use of the blue and purple together to add depth to the water, while the green used for the lilies add vibrant energy.
