Description
The Road to Giverny in Winter was painted by Claude Monet in 1885. This is one of the few paintings created by him that depicted a cold weather landscape. The use of light to highlight the roughness of the snow covered road it magical. There re houses in the distance but they are painted in the impressionist style that blurs the details so that they blend easily with the surrounding trees. Rich blues pop out against the stark white and the rich browns make up for a lack of greenery. It creates a beautifully scenic winter picture.
