Description

Description

While many of the Impressionist painters enjoyed painting outdoor scenes, none of them captured rural nature quite like Claude Monet. His Apple Trees in Bloom at Vetheuil 1887 is an excellent example of what made his landscapes so compelling and distinctive. As suggested by the title, apple trees serve as the central focal point of the painting. However, the eye is immediately drawn past the trees towards the undulating landscape in the background. Through a series of thick, blurred patches of paint, Monet managed to capture the sense of what it is like to pass by these gorgeous pastoral scenes in a fleeting glance.
