Description
Bathers at Grenouillere was painted by Claude Monet in 1869. Bathers at Grenouillere is an early work of Monet, painted while he was still discovering and cultivating his craft. Although the focus is less about color arrangement, Monet dazzles the viewer by clearly demonstrating contrasts in the light and dark of the nature surrounding the bathers. Most Impressionistic practitioners refrain from using black in favor of lighter pastel shades, but Monet used those stark colors to depict many of the people in the background. This gave the eye something to contrast against the vibrant blues, greens and pinks used in the rest of the piece.
