Claude Monet painted Baume in Blute in 1889 as yet another one of his fascinating landscape pieces. The focus is on a field of young trees, growing and reaching for the sunlight. He uses the slope of the hill and the shadows they cast to add dimension might still keeping it in the impressionist technique. The trees in the foreground have lighter leaves and spots of white, while the background foliage is full of deeper green shades. That contrast of colors and light is what make this such a great representation of Monet’s unique style.
