Beach in Juan-les-Pins, 1888

Monet came to Antibes, located on the Mediterranean coast in the south of France, in January of 1888. He was dazzled by the light and the striking scenery. Monet chose the vantage point of the Beach in Juan-les-Pins. He positioned himself at the bottom, close to the water by a large, twisting olive tree which dominates the composition.
