Description
Bouquet of Gladiolas, Lilies and Daisies, was a still life painted by Claude Monet in 1878. Although Monet is more well-known for his landscapes, this is a great example of the artist’s diverse collection of work. The flowers are painted with the impressionist technique, giving more attention to the contrast of colors and the play of light across the flowers then to the details of the subject. He uses soft yellows and greens to accent the bright red of the gladiolas. The table it vibrant but doesn’t overpower the scene and allows the viewer to focus more on the blooms. It is a lovely balance that creates a remarkable piece over all.
