Description
Although Claude Monet is not as well known for his still life painting, Flowers in a Pot created in 1881, is one of his best pieces. The yellow and green wall blends into the table of the same color, while the purple flowers pop out of the center. The broad strokes are used to give a different texture to the pot than the rest of the background. This attracts the eye to the main subject of the piece. Those flowers have movement all their own even as they sit still inside the pot that holds them.
