La Promenade (Argenteuil)

This painting by Claude Monet, created in 1875, depicts a woman with a parasol finding some cool shade to stand under in an open field.  There are other people in the distance, but the artist has put her in the center as the focal point. The way he uses shading to contrast the shade from the bright sunshine around her is compelling.
