Description
Morning on the Seine Near Giverny was painted by impressionist Claude Monet in 1896 a part of his Morning on the Seine collection. To create this series of lovely waterscapes, Monet set up his easel before dawn each morning in a boat moored just off the riverbank near his house at Giverny. There he worked during the early hours to assemble a series of twenty-one canvases to which this one belongs. Soft effects of pink and purple morning mist, dark green trees half-visible in the dawn light, and glimmering reflections on the blue water make this series arguably the most subtle he ever painted.
