Nasturtiums in a Blue Vase

Nasturtiums in a Blue Vase is one of the few still life paintings created by impressionist Claude Monet and was painted in 1879. It is a simple depiction of flowers in a blue vase, sitting on top of a hardwood table. The mottled blues on the vase are a stark contrast to the smooth and reflective brown wood table or the soft blue background of the wall. The vibrant orange flowers seem to jump out from that pastel color in a wonderful way and dance among the lush green leaves.
