Description
The Palazzo Dario was painted by impressionist Claude Monet in 1908. It was a part of his Venetian series, comprised of paintings depicting the various canals in Venice. The broad brushstrokes and use of light reflecting across the water are influences by his impressionist technique. He gives texture to the buildings rising up out of the water and allows the light to show the movement of the water. His choice to use warm pink and orange tones on the structures to contrast the yellows and greens in the water indicate it’s sunset.
