Description

Description

Claude Monet painted Poplars on the Banks of the Epte as part of his Poplars Series in 1891. During his time in Giverny, Monet enjoyed studying the trees growing along the river in different lighting and climate states. He enjoyed showing how they could project different moods depending on how the light hit them. The coloring of the leaves is also a small detail brought to life by Monet’s impressionist style. In this piece you can clearly see the vibrant use of blues and greens to suggest a refreshing spring day, with bright light catching the reflections in the water.
