Description

Description

In 1871, Claude Monet moved to Argenteuil apon returning form England, where he’d live for the next seven years. These years were a time of fulfilment for him. In this area just outside of France featured breathtaking landscapes, where Monet used his time as an opportunity to perfect his plein air painting supported by his dealer, Paul Durand-Ruel. In Poppy Field in Argenteuil, Monet displayed just how vibrant and charming this natural landscape really was. He also demonstrated his mastery of the Impressionist style by capturing the movement and fleeting nature of a summer’s day. The young woman with the sunshade and the child in the foreground are probably the artist’s wife, Camille, and their son Jean. The unique colors and brushstrokes used in this painting are indicative of the highly developed Impressionist techniques Monet used. His focus on visual impression is almost perfectly recreated in this beautiful oil painting reproduction of Poppy Field in Argenteuil.
