Claude Monet was a master Impressionist, but he didn’t limit his work to landscapes like many of his contemporaries. He also depicted everyday life, as seen in “The Terrace at St. Adresse” (sometimes referred to as “The Garden at St. Adresse”). This stunning painting was created in the resort town of Sainte-Adresse in 1867. In “The Terrace at St. Adresse,” Monet shows a luxurious lifestyle along the water along with lush greenery in the foreground. The marine background is done in a vivid teal that contrasts beautifully against the softer blue sky.
