Description
Gustav Klimt was an Austrian Symbolist painter who is known for his highly decorative works of landscapes, portraits and in particular, erotic female nudes. In his Gold Phase, he made effective use of gold leaf in his paintings, which may well have been influenced by his father, who was an engraver. Klimt’s Tree of Life, Stoclet Frieze is unusual, in that it is his only existing work that uses gold ornamentation in a landscape. The imagery in this tree of life oil painting is significant to religious scholars. With its roots in the ground and its branches reaching skyward, the tree is said to represent the stages of life – that of the Underworld, Earth and Heaven. In tree of life paintings and other representations, the branches are said to be our everyday life experiences. A portion of this tree of life oil painting was included in a series of three mosaics commissioned by the Paris Stoclet in Brussels. Our Tree of Life Klimt reproduction is meticulously crafted in high-quality oils on canvas to capture the artistic vision of the original. This Tree of Life painting, with its intricate beauty and potent symbolism, will take pride of place in any setting.
