The Austrian countryside takes center stage in the magnificent 1908 Klimt painting “Water Castle”. A series of green trees and bushes sprout in front of this lakeside house, with both reflected in the water below. With this scene, he symbolizes the likely desire of the owners to live in isolation while deliberately raising questions for the viewer to ponder. “Water Castle” is created through a medley of styles and techniques that form a harmonious whole.
