Description

Description

20″X24″Oil Painting On Canvas Vincent Van Gogh moved to Arles near the southern coast of France when he was around 35 years old. It was there that he made some of his most colorful and most recognizable work, including Cafe Terrace at Night, his sunflower paintings, and this one: one of a great many he made of wheat fields. This 1888 image in particular shows the clear influence of some Japanese art on Van Gogh’s work, especially in the subject matter of the everyday worker and in the dark stroked outlines akin to imported woodblock prints of the time. The warm intensity of the colors gives the viewer the same radiant and powerful feeling that Van Gogh and the field workers had during harvest. Such a natural warmth and expansive view are sure to enliven any space inhabited by this beautifully handmade reproduction.
