Description
White Water Lilies was painted by impressionist Claude Money in 1899. As part of his larger Water Lilies collection, this piece set itself apart with the inclusion of the bridge. Unlike the other, that showed only the natural flowers in the water, this piece includes a structure created by man. Monet uses the soft greens and gentle yellows to help the bridge blend into the natural surroundings and the white helps illuminate the setting with light. It is a brilliant depiction of a spot often favored by the artist during his stay in rural France.
